Hi friend,
I’ve been thinking about visibility and I want to name something that doesn’t get said enough:
Even as an actor. Even as a coach.
Even as someone who’s been “in front of people” for 30+ years… I still get that tight-chested moment before I post on LinkedIn, share an offer, or say out loud: “Hey, I’m available.”
So if being visible online feels weirdly hard, you’re not broken. You’re human.
Because visibility isn’t just confidence.
It’s nervous system + fear management + practice.
Fear doesn’t go away. The goal isn’t to become fearless, even though when we're young we think it is. Then we learn that the actual goal is to learn how to make choices with fear in the room – without letting it run the show.
And going into 2026, I'm holding this truth tighter than ever for all of us:
It’s too late to hide.
No, I don't mean in a pressure-y way... I mean in a liberating way. Like… we’re too grown to keep shrinking ourselves into “palatable” or “perfect” or “ready.” The world is loud and complicated, the job market is no joke, and most opportunities don’t go to the most qualified person – they go to the person who is clearest and easiest to refer.
So here’s your gentle, practical “teaching bit” for the week:
A visibility reset you can actually do
START: tiny visibility actions (5–10 minutes a day)
STOP: waiting until you feel “ready” (ready is a moving target)
CONTINUE: telling the truth about what you want
A “visibility action” can be small:
- comment thoughtfully on one post
- DM one warm contact
- share a lesson learned (even a messy one)
- post a simple “here’s what I do / here’s what I’m looking for”
- ask clearly for help or introductions
If you’re job searching, here’s a copy/paste script:
“Hi [Name], quick check-in. I’m in the market for [ROLE] roles, ideally in [INDUSTRY]. If you hear of anything, I’d love to be on your radar. If it’s easier, I can send a 3-bullet ‘what I’m targeting’ summary. Hope you’re doing well.”
If you’re looking for clients:
“Hi [Name] – I’m opening a few January spots for [WHAT YOU DO]. If you know someone who could use support with [PROBLEM YOU SOLVE], I’d love an intro and I’m happy to return the favor.”
And if you need the simplest of mantras to get you over the “post” button, use one or all of these:
I am in control of my choices.
I deserve to feel confident in my own presence.
It is okay to be seen.
Now the logistics (because I love you and I love clarity):
- No co-working this week. Take what you need — rest, family time, quiet, recovery, a little nothingness.
- We ARE on for co-working on Thursday, January 2nd. Put it on your calendar now so January doesn’t eat you alive in the first 48 hours.
- I’ll be back with regular emails the week of January 5th.
And the human part: Happy holidays, Reader!
Whatever this season brings – joy, grief, both, neither, all of it – I’m wishing you moments of ease, a little extra softness, and at least one good laugh that resets your whole system.
If you want, hit reply with one sentence: your visibility “START” for 2026. Small is perfect.
Warmly,
Gladys
