Welcome back to In Between Acts, a pause for reflection, creativity, and clarity in the space between where you’ve been and where you’re headed.
Hey friend,
Let’s bust a myth together: networking doesn’t only happen “out there.”
It’s not reserved for mixers, conferences, or big professional moments. Real connection often starts right where you are - at your kitchen table, in your inbox, or during that quick “thinking of you” text.
We tend to think we have to find our network, but most of us already have one. A former colleague, a friend from an old gig, a classmate, a neighbor - these are the people who already want to help. They just need to know what you’re looking for.
If you’re exploring what’s next - a new role, project, or creative direction - say it out loud. Post it. Mention it. Send a note. Because people spot opportunities every day, but they won’t recognize them as for you unless they know you’re open to them.
You’d be surprised how often someone says, “Oh! I didn’t realize you were looking - I just saw something perfect for you!”
That’s the magic of authentic networking. It’s not about collecting contacts; it’s about inviting others to notice on your behalf.
When you do that, you gain more than opportunities and you gain confidence, clarity, and community.
So this week, try one small thing:
- Send a “just checking in” message.
- Share what you’re working toward.
- Or simply thank someone who’s inspired you lately.
Networking doesn’t start in a room full of strangers. It starts at home with the people who already care.
